The medical-grade HEPA filter reliably removes pollen, germs, viruses and pollutants from the outside air to effectively protect the interior. Three operating modes are available: outside air supply, recirculation air mode and the "bioweapon defense mode", a kind of full protection mode. This generates a slight overpressure in the interior, in order to actively prevent the penetration of dangerous gases or germs.

The Model X offers real security thanks to its active, standard safety features. Thanks to special hardware, it not only gives the driver the possibility of foresight, but also of the all-round view. Eight surround cameras provide 360 ° visibility, while twelve ultrasonic sensors detect surrounding objects. A forward-looking radar penetrates heavy rain, fog, dust and even vehicles in front to allow simultaneous vision in all directions and help prevent accidents. The Model X not only scored five stars in each category and subcategory of US NCAP safety assessment (including pedestrian protection), but also has the lowest occupant injury risk in accidents. At the same time, the risk of overturning is only half that of other SUVs.
